Well, it’s time to wrap up the innovative mindset challenge. We talked through identifying and framing a problem, determining the cause, brainstorming solutions, and creating an action plan. If you haven’t already figured it out, an innovative mindset isn’t just for big problems. It helps you overcome everyday obstacles that business, work, and life throw your way.
I’m Elise with Woodworth enterprises and I’ve found that there are three main enemies of innovation.
The first is Fear. Usually this is quite frankly the fear of the unknown or the fear of change. It keeps people where they are because they can’t see the other side of the problem or obstacle. It is literally blocking their vision. So, they are afraid to innovate. With the Innovative Mindset framework, we’ve developed you can be assured there is a proven pathway forward.
Complacency, this can manifest in many ways. Sometimes it might look like laziness or resistance, or sound like “but we’ve always done it this way”, it might feel like oppression depending where it’s coming from. No matter how complacency presents itself, no matter your role in relationship to the obstacle you’ve identified, applying the steps in from this challenge can get you moving in the right direction.
Ignorance, as an enemy to innovation, shows up as a lack of understanding, an unwillingness to try, and the negative arguments that may sound familiar. We don’t have the time to innovate, or, it’s just a buzz word, or it’s only for the boss to worry about. Well, go back over the videos from this challenge and you’ll see that it isn’t limited to dealing with c-suite issues, nor does it have to be a long-drawn-out process.
